Blogtober: Day Two

Friday 2 October 2015

Happy day 2 of Blogtober y'all!

In January a new addition to our family arrived at our house. He was a tiny little thing with 4 legs, a head too big for his body and a need to bite anything that moved. 9 months later he’s still a little small and still has 4 legs but now he’s grown into his head and he no longer bites absolutely everything. Of course I’m talking about Teddy, my little Guide Dog Puppy.

Teddy is now approaching 10 months of being on this planet and will be leaving us in around 5 months for the next stage of his Guide Dog training. I never thought I would get so attached to him but now that he’s in my life and has sat on my head many times, I’m very much tied to him. I’m going to be absolutely distraught when it’s time for him to leave us.

He’s still got a few things to learn before he moves on for the next stage in his training. For starters he’s supposed to be helping someone through life yet seems more interested in staring at other dogs and being confused by tractors during walks. He also attends a puppy class every 2 weeks but he’s the disruptive one of the group and insists on playing with all the other four legged things. I’m not going to lie, I do have my doubts over him becoming a Guide Dog sometimes but the trainers all seem to be quite impressed with him so far.

I was feeling a little under the weather the day he did this. It's a rarity for him to stick his tongue out so I'm taking it as his attempt to cheer me up.
It’s so weird to know that one day my little guy with his serious face and wiggly body will have to leave us but I guess it will be worth it. I hope he knows he’s in for one giant, never-ending hug when his leaving date comes.
