Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water vs Simple Micellar Cleansing Water

Wednesday 1 July 2015

While trying to be nicer to my skin (and buying into blogger’s hype in the process) I decided to purchase the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. After I steadily made my way through this 400ml bottle I ended up purchasing Simple’s version of such product and lowing behold, a comparison post was born!

Let’s start with the aforementioned 400ml first. The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water offers up a rather generous helping of 400ml that is said to last for up to 200 uses. The Simple Micellar Cleansing Water on the other hand, comes in a 200ml bottle but it refrains from stating how many uses you can get out of it. Depending on where you purchase these products from you may end up paying a similar price for both; the Simple one isn’t doing so well right now is it?

When it comes to the actual product itself well, one of the brands left me incredibly disappointed. Simple Micellar Cleansing Water barely removes my make up. I can hold a cotton pad that’s soaked in this liquid on my eyelid for ages and guaranteed there will still be a lot of eyeshadow left.

Even when I attack my eyelids after my initial attempt I still can’t get the eyeshadow off. You can probably guess based on the fact it won’t remove my eye make up that it barely removes my foundation or powder and I wouldn’t even go near waterproof mascara with this product.

The Garnier version however, is incredible. It’s so good actually that I stopped using my many cleansers and cut back significantly on my skincare routine when using it. I would compare the performance of the Garnier version to Bioderma only it’s cheaper and much easier to get a hold of.

I would love to get into the nitty gritty details of the ingredients but I can’t even pronounce half of the things in either of the Micellar Cleansing Waters let alone tell you about them. As this is the case I think here is a good place to jump into the conclusion.

I think it’s safe to say that Garnier’s offering came up trumps in my book. The Simple one will be quickly used up (as will the cleanser that I’ve now had to introduce back into my skincare routine) and never repurchased again. The Garnier version has already been repurchased (hence why the bottle doesn’t look used in the pictures) and I’ve been eyeing it up every time I remove my make up. Oh how I miss the easiness of it.
